Jays’ Josh Donaldson diagnosed with calf strain after MRI

Look, again, I’m not saying I’m 100 percent correct with this approach, and I realize that I’m clearly in the minority. It’s not my first time in the minority voting for a baseball award. I Cheap Baseball Jerseys China cast one of just three first-place votes for Bruce Bochy in the 2014 NL Manager of the Year race (he finished third) and one of 10 first-place NL Cy Young votes for Zack Greinke in 2015 (he finished second). As with both of those votes, though, I feel good about how I arrived at my conclusions.

Anyway, as I mentioned, Manny’s hovering slightly under the 25 percent mark on the Tracker, and that number figures to drop once the anonymous ballots are added to the total, which will be revealed Wednesday. He has more than enough to guarantee he’ll stay on the ballot (he has 53 already, and the mandatory 5 percent threshold will be around 22 votes), but it also sends a pretty clear signal of how voters view his candidacy.

Josh Donaldson gave Blue Jays fans a scare Saturday when he underwent a precautionary MRI on his right calf.

According to SportsNet, Toronto general manager Ross Atkins described Donaldson’s injury as “a small tweak” sustained while running Friday.

Donaldson was dignosed with a right calf strain Saturday after the MRI results came back, according to sportsnet.com. He is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Atkins is optimistic Donaldson will end being fine.

“What I can tell you is that Josh does a very good job of taking care of himself, he’s put himself in a great position this off-season, he’s in really good shape and he also recovers very well,” said Atkins. “When you factor all that in it mitigates the concern to some extent.”

It is worth mentioning Donaldson suffered a right calf strain early last season and never missed a game due to the injury.cubs_1180
